Creating Recipes

Step 1 – Get creative and use various Uber actions to create a style you like. Here I’ve run several actions to come up with a dramatic, grainy, sepia toned image.

Step 2 – Jot down the actions you used and the order you ran them on a piece of paper or document.

You can also open another image and float the windows so you can view the actions.

Step 3 – Click on the Create new action icon at the bottom of the Actions panel. In the popup window enter the name of the new action and be sure it’s place in the correct set. Here I’ve named the action Henrik Sepia and I want the action to be in the Uber Recipes set. Next, click the Record button.

Step 4 – Once you click on the Record button, locate each action you want to run, highlight it and press the Play selection button at the bottom of the Actions panel. This will perform the action selected and place it as a step in the new action.

Step 5 – When you have run all the actions click on the Stop playing/recording icon at the bottom of the Actions panel.

Here’s the new action recipe and a list of the actions it will perform anytime I run it.

Step 6 – Be sure to save the actions set by clicking on the menu and choosing Save Actions. If you don’t and you close the set you will lose the new recipe/action. This also provides a backup in case you have problems with Photoshop.
